Warranty and Information

Good to know

The world's largest lens manufacturer, the French company Essilor, offers a unique adaptation guarantee for all Varilux multifocal lenses it manufactures. The adaptation guarantee is an additional service that, in addition to the material quality guarantee, also provides a subjective guarantee for the wearer.
If someone cannot adapt to their Varilux multifocal lens even after 1 month of continuous use of the glasses from the date of purchase, the manufacturer will replace it with a pair of reading and distance glasses free of charge. The coating properties and quality of the replaced lenses will be the same as the original multifocal lens.
What should I do if I want to claim the Varilux adaptation guarantee?
The Varilux adaptation guarantee can be claimed for a maximum of 30 days from the date of purchase. After 30 days, the manufacturer will not accept these claims. In all cases, the Varilux warranty card and the receipt or invoice proving the purchase are required. In the absence of any of them, the habituation guarantee cannot be enforced!

The premium guarantee is a special type of guarantee that was invented by the lens manufacturer Essilor to solve non-warranty defects.
If the glasses have been subjected to external influences that have caused damage to the lens, the buyer can take advantage of the premium guarantee.
This type of guarantee can be used within 2 years of purchase, if the defect in the glasses lens is not of manufacturing origin.
To validate the guarantee, the buyer only needs to bring the Premium Guarantee data sheet received during purchase.
This type of guarantee provides a 75% discount on the current catalog price for 1 year from purchase, and then a 50% discount for the period between 1 and 2 years.

Glasses are delicate optical devices; during use, all rough handling that may cause deformation must be avoided (such as sitting on them, stepping on them, or dropping them).

Always put on and take off your glasses with both hands, as one-handed use can cause uneven deformation of the frame, which may eventually lead to breakage.

Have the condition of your glasses checked every 6 months to ensure that screws and moving parts have not become loose.

Never attempt to repair your glasses at home, as this may cause even greater damage.

Clean your glasses exclusively with the microfiber cloth available in our store, which is provided free of charge with your new glasses.

The coating layers of optical lenses have a maximum heat resistance of approximately 40–50 °C; therefore, do not leave your glasses in an overheated car during summer and do not wear them in a sauna.

During kitchen use, protect your glasses from rising steam.

When not in use, always store your glasses in a case with a microfiber lining. Do not keep any other objects in the case alongside the glasses that could scratch them (e.g. pens, keys, etc.).

If the surface of the lenses becomes greasy or oily, remove the contamination only with the optical degreasing lens-cleaning solution recommended by us, as we can provide coating warranty only in this case.

If the lenses become dusty, rinse them with lukewarm water before using the microfiber cleaning cloth, as dust particles may cause scratches during wiping.

The glasses you purchased comply with the Hungarian standards currently in force:
MSZ EN ISO 1836, MSZ EN ISO 21987, MSZ EN ISO 14889, MSZ EN ISO 12870.

The warranty is regulated by the new Civil Code, which entered into force on March 15, 2014. The procedural rules for handling warranty and guarantee claims regarding items sold under a contract between a consumer and a business are prescribed by Decree 19/2014. (IV. 29.) of the Ministry of the Interior.

Defective performance occurs when, at the time of delivery, the product does not comply with statutory or contractual requirements. If the product is delivered after being ordered, the time of performance is the date of delivery.

Warranty claims cannot be enforced if the defect was known or should have been recognizable at the time of purchase, or in the case of a product received as a gift.

In the event of defective performance, the customer may initially request repair or replacement of the product. If this is not possible or would involve disproportionate costs, the customer may request a price reduction, have the defect remedied at their own expense, or withdraw from the contract.

The seller is obliged to carry out the repair or replacement within 15 days, without causing significant inconvenience to the customer. If this does not occur, the repair may be carried out by another party at the seller’s expense. The customer may also switch between warranty claims.

Warranty claims may be enforced within 2 years, which period is extended by the time during which the defective product could not be used as intended.

The defect must be reported as soon as possible after discovery, but no later than within 2 months. In the case of a defect discovered within six months, it is presumed that the defect already existed at the time of purchase, unless this presumption is incompatible with the nature of the product.

All costs related to repair, replacement, and delivery are borne by the seller. In addition, the customer may also be entitled to compensation if the defect caused damage.

In the case of a warranty, the seller is liable for defects of the product occurring within the warranty period, unless the seller proves that the defect arose after the purchase. Therefore, the burden of proof does not lie with the consumer.

During the warranty period, the same claims may be enforced as in the case of statutory warranty rights (repair, replacement, price reduction, or withdrawal from the contract). The warranty period is extended by the time required for repair, and in the event of replacement or a significant repair, the warranty period restarts. No replacement or compensation is granted for defects resulting from normal wear and tear.

Mandatory warranty applies to certain durable consumer goods, such as optical devices and sunglasses with a purchase price exceeding HUF 10,000. The duration of the mandatory warranty is one year, calculated from the date of purchase or commissioning.

If a service center is indicated on the warranty card, repair claims may be submitted directly to that service center.
If a request for replacement is made within three working days and the defect prevents proper use of the product, the seller is obliged to replace the product.

Only new parts may be used during repairs.

The seller is required to record the consumer complaint in written minutes and provide a copy to the consumer. To prove the purchase, it is sufficient to present the payment receipt.
